Avignon Restaurant- La Cour du Louvre

On our first night in Avignon, tucked away at the end of a covered courtyard, we found this wonderful restaurant. La Cour du Louvre.  Without a reservation, they fit us in for one of the most amazing dinners of our lives. We were early, as it was our first night in France and not on the time zone yet.  So we were lucky the restaurant was fairly empty. But as the evening went on- it filled to capacity!  And I can see why!

Large drippy candelabra sat on the floor beside our table.  So romantic!

Stone walls with pictures of American movie stars

Large drapery panels of orange and gold to soften the stone ( and noise!)

Whimsical place mats at each place setting

The finale to the meal was the most amazing desserts!

Three house made sorbets  with freshly whipped cream!

A Pistachio Crème Brulee with Strawberries and Rose Ice Cream in a Lemon Shell

Isn't this simply gorgeous?

Look at the beautiful color of the rose ice cream.  It had the most subtle rose flavor.

The entire meal was divine- a fresh asparagus cream soup served in a white pottery bowl with a cherub peeking up at you from the rim!  Pate with Apple Chutney, Dover sole almondine, yes simply divine food!  But the desserts- I will never ever ever forget!!!!!

Peeking back through the windows as we left the restaurant. Such a romantic spot!

La Cour du Louvre - one of Avignon's best!

I found your blog via Dreams on 34th Street....and have become your newest follower on GFC.

Now I'm off to read more of your posts through France, my favorite country to vista.
